Windows Services - Enabling and disabling

Sometimes you want to enable or disable a system Service in Windows (maybe you don't need it and it just eats away your systems resources). To do this you need to follow these instructions:

• First you need to log in as the Administrator or any priviledged user. If you have only one account this is probably it. In order to log into another account you first need to log off the current (click Start and select Log Off two times).
• Now you need to go to the Control Panel, open up the Administrative Tools and double click on Services. A window like the one below should appear.
• To enable or disable a service you will now need to locate it's corresponding long name.
• Right click on it and select Preferences.
• In the Startup type combo box you can choose what you want. The options are Enabled, Manual and Disabled and all of them take effect after next reboot. In this windows you can also temporarily Start or Stop a service by clicking on the appropriate button.

Note: Beware, disabling a critical system service will create many problems and crash your computer. You will not be able to use it normally again (probably the Safe Mode will still work) until you set them back.
